WE ARE THE COMMUNITYThe project called WE ARE THE COMMUNITY run by the Association Together for Community Development–AIDC, aims to encourage the active involvement of the population in deprived rural communities to increasing ethnic cohesion, local economic development and social revitalization of these communities.

Project Objectives :
- Establishment and operation of the Community Center for Citizen Initiative in the village of Satu Nou Brașov county, as a tool for social cohesion,
- Prepare youth for employment through entrepreneurship education, using the Virtual Firm program,
- Stimulate the economic initiative through employment support services
- Promote the interethnic cohabitation through the art exhibitions posted on ,,Citizen Agenda”- panels, as a communication tool inside the community .

Expected Results :
- 6700 people attend the Community Center for Citizen Initiative in Satu Nou,
- 40 youth (20 Roma) receive entrepreneurship education,
- 72 people (40 Roma) from vulnerable groups receive services for employment/entrepreneurship,
- 12 firms are involved in local economic development,
- 60 people are involved in running the Ethnic Cohabitation Exhibitions
ADC partners to implementing the project are: the Communes of Hălchiu and Crizbav in Brașov county, the Secondary Schools of Hălchiu and Crizbav, the Primary Schools of Satu Nou and Cutuș and the Urban Art Depot Association - DAU
During the reporting period 1 June 2014 through 31 January 2015, the project called ,,We are the Community" run activities for involving the population of Crizbav and Hălchiu, two disadvantaged rural communities of Brasov county, in increasing inter-ethnic cohesion and promote the local economic development and social revival. The Citizen Initiative Community Center was established in the village of Satu Nou (part of Hălchiu commune, with a compact Roma population) in order to promote active citizenship to ethnic communities. The center was set up and equipped for creative arts workshops and for hosting inter-ethnic, inter-generational and community activities. The Citizen Initiative Community Center will host community activities for the inhabitants of the both target communities (6736 inhabitants).
Young people from the two communes participated in civic education classes for ethnic cohabitation (206 students, 60 Roma), benefited from vocational assessment and employment guidance (109 students, 43 Roma), have developed entrepreneurial skills through participation in the Virtual Firm program (90 students, 31 Roma) and enrolled in artistic workshops (267 students, 107 Roma).
During the reporting period 531 people (including 107 Roma) were directly involved in project activities and the total population of the target communes (6736 inhabitants) was informed about the content and results of the project.
The project team and a group of 5 volunteers trained on sustainable development of rural inter-ethnic communities (one training session for volunteers) provide human resource, logistical and technical support for the operation of Citizens Initiative Community Centre and for the educational and cultural activities to strengthen the inter-ethnic cohesion.
The project WE ARE THE COMMUNITY is financed by the NGO Fund in Romania, Component 2- Social justice, Sub-component 2.1- Development of rural interetnic communities, operated by the Resource Center for Roma Communities and it is implemented between 1 June 2014 to 31 May 2015 in the communes of Hălchiu and Crizbav of Brașov County, Romania
